Jūra was created out of love
and wonder for the natural world.
The studio is led by Migle Staniskyte. Born in Lithuania, and now based in New York, Migle weaves together various threads of cultures she inhabits in her work.
Jura translates to ‘the sea’ in Lithuanian, and reflects the ethos of the studio. It serves as a reminder of the inspiration taken from the ebbs and flows of water, the poetry found in nature. The sea is a reminder to notice the beauty around us that is easy to take for granted.
The foundation of our approach is sourcing as locally as possible by dedicating time and effort to bringing forth local flora to each of our designs. We do not use floral foam and are intentional in reusing vessels and installation materials. All flowers and plant materials are composted after their time has come.
Working with natural materials as we are, we feel that these practices are only natural. A result of our respect for our flowers and the farmers who provide them and are fundamental to why we love working with flowers in the first place.
